Leeming Biogas Limited
Leeming Biogas Limited reached financial close on 5 November 2014. The anaerobic digestion plant at Leeming processes commercial food waste produced by local businesses to provide renewable energy and a bio-fertilizer by-product that is distributed on local farm land to improve crop production. Lord Kerslake, the former Head of the Home Civil Service and Chief Executive of Sheffield City Council, formally opened Leeming Biogas on 1 July 2016 alongside local dignitaries and sustainable energy specialists.
The plant has been designed and built by Anaergia and Surgo Construction.
CNG Services provided the gas network entry equipment. The facility is capable
of processing up to 80,000 tonnes of commercial food waste and producing over
6 million m3 of biomethane per annum which is injected directly into the local gas grid.
The day to day management of the plant will be provided by Veolia Environmental Services under a long-term O&M contract.
